How To Automatically Install WordPress Plugins

    by: Philip Light

WordPress plugins give you an amazing ability to extend the power of WordPress. You can easily install and start using any of the thousands of plugins to bring a wide assortment of functionality to your website. There are plugins for e-commerce, SEO, banner ads, Analytics, managing your users, integrating with email lists, showing galleries of images, embedding audio or video, and on and on and on.

Check out the repository of free WordPress Plugins at http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/. There are also a number of premium (paid-for) plugins that you can by searching Google for “WordPress plugin” plus a keyword describing what you are looking for.

But they don’t do you any good if you aren’t using them! The good news is that finding and installing WordPress Plugins couldn’t be easier. In this How-To article, we’re going to take a step-by-step look at how you can find and automatically install plugins directly from within WordPress.

    Let’s get started.
    Step 1: Log Into WordPress
Go to your WordPress Admin Center just like you would if you were going to add a new page or post and login as an administrator.

Step 2: Go To the Plugins Tab
This will bring up a list of all the plugins that are already installed. You may find a couple in there called ‘Hello Dolly’ and ‘Askimet’ even if you never downloaded a plugin before, those come pre-installed with WordPress. At the top of this page you will find a “Add New” button that you can click to start searching for the plugin you want to include.

    Step 3: Find Your Plugin
If you are looking for a specific plugin, then you can just search for the name of the plugin. You can also search more general terms to try to find a plugin for a particular need you have on your site. For example, let’s look at the Exclude Pages plugin. This simple, but endless useful, plugin lets you create pages that do not appear in your typical navigation. This is great for creating pages such as a Thank You page (for after someone submits a contact form for instance) where it doesn’t make sense to have visitors navigating directly to. To find this plugin, just search for “Exlude Pages” and you it should be at the top of the list.

Step 4: Install the Plugin – Automatically!
Under the “Actions” column you will find a link called “Install”. Click that link to see more information about that plugin and to install it. You’ll want to make sure that the plugin is compatible with your version of WordPress, though plugins will generally work fine for later versions as well. You’ll also want to check that the Average Rating is pretty decent, that the plugin has been downloaded a significant amount of times, and that they plugin author updates the plugin somewhat regularly. These are all good signs that the plugin is still actively maintained and should work without any problems.
When you are ready to install the plugin simply click the Install Update Now button. This will automatically start the process of downloading and installing the plugin into your WordPress. You just need to click the “Activate Plugin” link to start using the plugin.

    Step 5: Use the Plugin
Different plugins are controlled in different ways. Most of them will create a new option under Tools or Settings to control the plugin options, others will create their own tab in the Admin Center, and some just add a new option somewhere within the Admin Center. In our example using the Exclude Pages plugin, we can navigate to a page via Posts > Edit (or Add New) and see the new Panel called ‘Exclude Pages’ where you can click the checkbox to either include or exclude that page from the general navigation. Simple!
It’s that easy. You can now search through the thousands of available plugins to add all kinds of functionality to your WordPress site. Did in and have fun!

    The Best Plugins For WordPress

8 Of The Best Plugins For WordPress

    by: Adam James

WordPress is an amazing tool, I use it on so many websites, I really would be loss without it, but what one of the things that makes it so great is the over whelming amount of plugins that are available. If there’s something you want to do in WordPress, there’s normally a plugin to help you do it. The best plugins

    SEO Ultimate -

I think this plugin deserves more recognition than it’s gotten up till now. I have never seen a plugins with such a massive array of features, this does everything that platinum SEO and All In One SEO, also throws in the functionality found within SEO Smart Links and a number of other plugins it is essentially the swiss army knife of WordPress plugins. Some examples of its additional features include; code inserter (for use with adding Google Analytics, Adsense section targeting etc) Webmaster verification assistant, Link Mask Generator, Robots.txt editor and there’s even an option for exporting your SEO Ultimate settings to a file so you can import later or use on another blog if you need to, along with support for importing post meta data from All In One SEO – and there’s more, well worth checking out.

    W3 Total Cache Plugin

    • This plugin when fully configured can give at least 10x improvement in overall site performance and give you up to 80% bandwidth savings via minify and HTTP compression of HTML. In A/B testing this great WordPress Plugin beats other optimisation plugins like WP Super Cache hands down in terms of page load time, and not only that but it has Amazon S3 integration. This plugin is so good at performance optimization that it is trusted by sites such as mashable.com, smashingmagazine.com and many others.

    Cbnet Ping Optimizer

    • Within your WordPress admin panel, if you click on the writing option within the settings tab, you will see at the bottom a section called Update Services, now each time you publish a post or update a post WordPress will ping the sites in this list. So if you update a post frequently, some of these services may blacklist your site, this handy plugin stops WordPress from pinging these services when you edit a post, but allows it to ping them when you first add the post, removing the possibility of being blacklisted as a spammer on those services.

    TinyMCE Advanced

    • WordPress uses the standard version of TinyMCE as its WYSIWYG editor, this is the advanced version that will add 17 plugins to TinyMCE. These include: Advanced HR, Advanced Image, Advanced Link, Advanced List, Context Menu, Emotions (Smilies), Date and Time, IESpell, Layer, Embed Media, Nonbreaking, Print, Search and Replace, Style, Table, Visual Characters and XHTML Extras.

    WPtouch

    • Once this WordPress plugin is installed and activated it will transform your blog into an iPhone application-style theme when it is viewed from an iPhone, iPod touch, Android, Palm Pre, Samsung touch and Blackberry Storm/Torch mobile devices. With web browsing via mobile devices this is an extremely important plugin to utilise, as it will provide fast and user-friendly browsing from the mobile devices mentioned and this will not affect your desktop theme in anyway. On top of that you can customise various aspects of its appearance within the admin panel and it will also display ads from Google Adsense which is very handy.

    Maintenance Mode

    • This nifty plugin will add a splash page to your blog to let its visitors know that your WordPress blog is down for maintenance, it will also inform the visitor when the site will be accessible. The message is completely customisable and logged in administrators will get full access to the blog including the front-end.

    Broken Link Checker

    • It can be quite frustrating for the reader of a page on your blog who has become engrossed in whatever article/post it is they are reading when they try clicking a link within your page and the site is broken. However this will always happen from time to time and can’t be avoided, but when you’ve been blogging for a while and you’ve amounted a sizable archive of posts and articles it would be impossible to check them all.

    WP-DBManager

    • The worst thing that can happen for any blogger is to put your heart and soul into writing great posts and then then just lose it all, whether it’s down to your webhost or something else. This great WordPress plugin makes it so easy to back up your WP database, and even optimise and repair it too. It supports backup scheduling and allows you to either download the backup file or email it to you. This plugin is a must have for anyone who is serious about using WordPress.

    Event Organizers Unite!

I’m happy to announce the formation of a new official contributor group within the WordPress project for the organizers of in-person events that promote WordPress. Though there are hundreds of people around the globe organizing WordCamps, WordPress meetups, hackathons, free classes and the like, since their “projects” were all happening locally there was never a central hub of activity for these folks. Despite the many informal connections between community organizers, we weren’t taking advantage of the huge existing knowledge base as new organizers stepped up to the plate.

With the creation of this new contributor group, we finally have a way to organize and recognize these kinds of contributions, a clear avenue for feedback and input when it comes to policies around official events, and the opportunity to create even more connections between community organizers through mentorship programs and group projects. I’m especially excited about the creation of this group because until now the role of community organizer, while one of the most important, has not gotten the same recognition as higher-profile contribution methods such as forum support or core code contribution. That is something I hope this group will change, and the local organizers can be recognized for the community leaders they are.*

If you are the organizer of a local WordCamp, WordPress meetup, etc., head over to http://make.wordpress.org/events/ and introduce yourself so we can include you in the fun!

Speaking of meetups, an update on my last post about meetups is long overdue. With around 500 meetup organizers (and/or potential organizers) responding to my last survey, it took much longer than anticipated to review all the responses. We’re working now with meetup.com to issue invitations to join a centralized WordPress Meetup account, so if you filled out the form earlier this year, you should be hearing from them soon. The first wave of existing meetup account transfers (for those who opted in) should happen in the next two weeks, with additional waves every 3 months thereafter (and new groups will be able to be created along the way).

The contributor summit that is being planned for the end of October also generated hundreds of responses/nominations, so that review process is still happening, but we should be announcing some basic plans and issuing invitations soon.

And finally, it would be impossible to talk about in-person WordPress events without mentioning the upcoming annual WordCamp in San Francisco. As the event that represents the worldwide project as a whole, it’s the perfect time to evaluate where we stand as a project and as a community, to help determine where we go next. If you’re a WordPress user, developer, or in any way a part of our vast and interconnected ecosystem, please take a moment to fill in the 2nd annual WordPress survey. It’s just a couple of questions, and your input would be greatly appreciated. The results of the survey will be announced at WSCF, and a report issued shortly thereafter.

    Thanks!

    * I am also of the firm belief that academic and arts activities should earn varsity letters just like sports teams do — go mathletes!

    Blogging Number 1

The first thing that we bloggers need to know on how to do right in blogging is what’s your blog all about? What are you going to post on your blogs that can make readers be interested to read more. After spending several hours on thinking on the right niche for your blog you must think of the best title for your blog.

    Blogging Number 2

You can make some list of titles you want and sometimes bloggers uses some tools for them to have different lists of titles for their site. Then, you also need to choose the right platform that you think you can easily manage. Blogger and WordPress are some of the most popular platforms with lots of free templates available on the web.

    Blogging Number 3

Next, after choosing the right title for your blog you will start writing articles to be posted on your blog. Reading other blogs with same niche as yours can makes you more inspired and for more ideas. But, make sure not to copy other peoples articles. Your articles should be interesting and informative for the readers to continue reading it.

Many bloggers want there site to be visible on most of the search engines. If you also want to do that create an article that is keyword rich. You can include keywords on your title and also on your post but make sure the title will not be longer than 10-12 words.

You can also do some link exchange to make your site more popular. There are directories that offer free submission and also some social bookmarking. If you have a little budget for your site and submit your site to a paid directories make sure not to lose that directory all a sudden because that may cause your site to drop its ranking.

Other than that, if your site started to climb up and more and more visitors are visiting your site. You should avoid changing your website specially re-designing it. Because it has a big effect on the rankings of your blog. Nowadays, google has a filter for those site that changes more often. If you change your site, your site will be temporarily filtered by google.

    Blogging Number 5

You should also avoid spamming, the use of cloaking, hidden text and doorway pages are some of the spam techniques that can makes your site be penalized. And also make sure your server is up and running smoothly.

Those are some tips and tricks that you should do in Blogging. There are so many things that you need to learn if you really want to have a website that rank good in different Search Engines such as MSN, Yahoo and most specially Google.

    Subscribers anyone?

    More Subscribers

How do you get subscribers to spend more time on your site and reduce your bounce rate, without spending more than one second trying to do it?

Increasing the font size works on most situations.

Now find the line controlling the font size on your site, and increase it. That is it!
My bounce rate decreased because I increased the size of my fonts. I went from getting 5 subscribers a day to 37 today… :) You can try this trick, works for me… good luck……

7 Basic Blogging Tips You Cannot Afford To Ignore

    by: Ngozi Nwoke

Blogging as a marketing strategy cannot be over emphasized if you want to generate mlm leads for your network marketing business. But for you to generate these leads, your blog must have frequent and quality blog posts. And whatever your niche may be, you want people to read your posts and comment on them. To help you achieve these goals, I have listed the basic blogging tips to help you promote your blog post

How to promote your blog posts

    1. Create catchy Keyword titles

Make your title to be compelling; your blog title should promise to deliver your expert information on a specific topic. It should build interest or motivation. Does it entice your readers to ask questions? “How to” blog posts will always attract readers because people are looking for answers to common problems facing them. Furthermore, titles need to be search engine friendly and keyword wired or nobody will ever see them, no matter how catchy they are.

    2. Blog posts must be reader friendly

Readers should be able to scan through your post and get the answers that your title promised to deliver. Your paragraphs should be short and precise. Also, use subheadings, bold texts and numbering lists or bulleted lists to make it easier for readers to get the relevant points.

    3. Make it simple and value based

Your blog posts content should be value based yet not too long; otherwise you will lose your reader’s interest. People want to quickly learn something and move on to other things but if your post is too long they may miss the very answer your post delivers.

    4. The Power of pictures

Incorporate pictures into all your posts. Pictures liven up your blog and speak a lot more than words. Get catchy pictures related to your post’s title and content and include in your blog post.

    5. Use videos

The use of videos is also good for your blog posts. Some people prefer to watch and listen than to read. One recommendation I will like to give you though, is to add some texts, in form of a summary after the video. This will help with SEO and if for any reason the video does not quickly start playing, your visitor can still get the value of the post before moving on.

    6. Encourage comments

Though the comment form is there, people need to be told to leave comments. The problem may be what to write, so lead them by asking a question related to the blog post at the end. The answer will now be their comment.

    7. Include social media marketing action plan

Market your posts at the media sites and tell your followers to share it. Also encourage your blog visitors to share it with their social media friends. Make it easy for them by providing social media connection buttons.
Following these 7 basic blogging tips will attract more visitors to your blog, increase your SEO and mlm leads and establish you as an expert.

5 Realities of Blogging for Money!

    by: TJ Philpott

If you are blogging for money there are certain ‘realities’ you must get clear on if you intend to be successful! Not everybody is going to get rich online by operating a small business blog simply because many will quit their efforts before they experience any success. This is not an endeavor that will bring overnight results but instead requires a sustained effort over time before any type of financial success is achieved.
Here are 5 realities you can fully expect to experience when you start blogging in terms of what it will take for you to achieve any financial success with your site.

    Patience is a Virtue!

Actually this virtue is a must since blog building takes time and there is no way around that. You can not flip a switch to create loyalty since only time will make that possible. If you expect to achieve any degree of financial success with a small business blog you must first gain the loyalty of your subscribers.

    Consistency is Needed!

When you start blogging the only way you can expect people to come visit is by posting fresh and interesting content. To keep them coming back you will need to post updates consistently so people will know they can expect something new giving them a reason to return.

    Promoting is Required

Although updating your site will help generate traffic by pinging the search engines, it is recommended to use other tactics as well to help increase your traffic flow. Whether it is leaving links at forums or social sites or even writing articles you want as many people to know about your small business blog as possible.

    Interaction is Encouraged

Allow for comments and respond to any that are directed at you as the site administrator. This helps to develop a sense of community amongst loyal readers while also serving as social proof to any new visitors who land on the site. Comments or any other signs of interactivity serve as a validation that there is something of interest to or popular with visitors who frequent the platform.

    Sustained Efforts Will Be Rewarded

As already discussed above you will need to be patient while you consistently put forth the effort to keep your site updated and generate traffic. Provided your theme and/or niche selection is a profitable one the product of your efforts will be rewarded with your financial success.
When blogging for money your expectations must be realistic in order to achieve any type of financial success from a small business blog. The realities are that this is not an endeavor where you will get rich online overnight but you can experience success with the right amount of focus and effort.

The 5 realities discussed here today serve to help better prepare anybody desiring to earn an income from their small business blog. In this way one will be in a much better position to achieve the financial success which is being sought!

Why Guest Blogging Is So Important

    By Tim Schweizer

    1) Guest blogging builds relationships with other bloggers

If you want to make a relationships with bloggers, there is nothing more  important than guest blogging. Of course you must make some relationships before  and prepare site owner for your guest post. For example you can write some  comments on his/her blog, mention about him/her on your website or use your  social media accounts (Twitter/ Facebook). Finally you should ask about  possibility of guest blogging (not every blogger is accepting guest posts).

    2) It builds your brand

Guest blogging is very important in building your brand among other bloggers.  If the blog has a lot of subscribers and devoted readers, your name will be  spread out between them. But there is a trick – if you are “new” in the city,  you should try to publish your guest post not on big brands, but on blogs  similar (in size) to your blog. It’s normal, that owners of A-blogs will not  accept someone new, who is outside their social networks.

    3) Guest blogging make traffic for your blog

Traffic from other blogs is another point, why bloggers like guest blogging.  Of course traffic, which can be directed to your blog, depends on a lot of  factors – size of the blog, quality of your post and how your article is related  with the blog subject matter. But you can increase traffic from your guest post,  by promoting it among your readers – you can share the link on Facebook page,  tweet it or even write a post on your blog, where you will link back to all of  your guest posts.

    4) It build links to your website

Links to your site, which you place in your Bio or inside your guest post,  are also very important. Google and other search engines like related links  inside good quality articles. In your article you can put some information about  you and your website, with proper link to chosen page. So it’s important, to  have guest posts on a lot of blogs, which are related with your niche.

    5) Guest posts make content to blog owners

Maybe you are surprised, but most of the bloggers don’t blog regularly. It’s  not because they don’t want to post with regular interval, it’s because they  don’t have time for doing it. Writing a great post (or killer article) takes  some hours, and if there is a possibility to not spend some hours on writing,  blogger will take this advantage.

As you can see, writing for others has a lot of advantages, and is almost  free from disadvantages. If you are interested in guest blogging or in getting some backlinks from a high  quality blog, please visit http://nopassiveincome.com
