For every search term we conduct the search, a huge list of websites returned. This is the list of websites optimized to appear on search result for prominent keyword which is queried using organic search.

Websites appear in the top 10 search engine result for competitive keywords is not only the result of great content and keyword stuffing but it is an appropriate proportion of content, domain age and quality links(internal as well as external).

A website does not stay long in search result unless its web pages are receiving enough links juice from thematically relevant and authority websites as well. It is imperative to understand the key contributing factors of link building to attain a stable ranking for prominent keyword.

Link Volume – It is quite difficult to estimate the number of links a website requires to stay in top 10 search result. As it depends on multiple factors like competiveness of the market, kind of links competitors are targeting, number of quality link competitor’s website had have and many more. Developing links by staying in relevant category can push SEO efforts however over doing can burn your efforts and bury your website in the penalty zone.

Link Velocity – Link Velocity is essentially the rate at which a site is acquiring inbound links. This requires strategic planning, patience and persistence. Generating fast inbound links is often treated as a black hat technique. The idea is, rather than going too fast, slowly raise the number of links getting per day to look more “organic”.

Link Source – The source from where links are coming must be carefully selected. Authority sites would be the first choice for attaining links as they are topically aligned, aged and already ranking in the top 10 for the term you are targeting. These websites help to pull website upward in search result positioning.

Link Diversity – Large numbers of links from a wide variety of websites help but having a link on all the pages of one site certainly doesn’t look natural at all! This overly balanced link repartition looks unnatural. Targeting links at different sites with diversifying anchor text would worth it for all link building effort.

So how do you go about developing links that actually achieve “ranking stability”? Quite simple! Make a balance between link volume, velocity, source and diversity, sit relax and enjoy the top position.
