My friend spilled water in her acer aspire one. I have looked at it and nothing appears to be damaged. The computer will not turn on at all. What can I do to fix it? It hasn’t been working for over a month.

Well, if it won’t turn on, it probably requires a new motherboard. You can disconnect everything that is removable (Wireless card, RAM, hard drive, keyboard, touchpad) and see if one of those things is shorting it out, but laptops and netbooks don’t respond well to water.
Looks like your friend is going to go and spend another $300 and get another disposable netbook.
    end of line

Just because you can not see damage there is things that a short circuit will totally destroy (THE CHIP-SET) the main brain of the computer so it will probably be just a pile of dead parts. you may be able to salvage somme things like hard drive net work cards but to be honest it is scrap. the time it takes to remove cards and then check them out it is not viable to do.

  • I agree with Nikkai. The board is totally fried. I use a laptop that has a spill proof keyboard for this reason. In case it ever comes around.
